Random pics from the weekend

Being dog owners Lindsey and I had to chuckle at this ad in the tube station.

The two pictures below are using an iphone app to piece pictures together. One is the view over looking the mews from the back of our flat and the other one shows you nearly 70% our of living room all in one picture. Make sure you click on the pictures to blow them up. Enjoy!

Cirque du Soleil Totem at the Royal Albert Hall

This was our first experience at the RAH and we thoroughly enjoyed it for two reasons - its a beautiful venue and it is right around the corner from our flat. This was also our first experience with Cirque du Soleil and because of that we both enjoyed the show immensely. Friends that were with us and had seen a show before didn't like it as much probably because of the law of diminishing returns and that Totem was not a very polished finished product of a performance.

One last fun pic

Gives you an idea of the size of the valley that Chamonix resides.

More pics from Chamonix

Chamonix and beyond

Above - PK in front of Mont Blanc and also pictured in the distance trying to get a picture but the picture of him turned out to be a better one.

I got to go skiing for the second time this season and had a much better experience than earlier in the year. A bunch of friends rented a chalet for 4 nights and we got to ski in the massive area that is Chamonix and also made it across the border to do some skiing in Courmayeur Italy. The chalet was definitely an experience and our hosts (Simon and Stephanie) put on a great show with five star dinners and smiles in response to all of our requests. The friends were: Mike and Kati, Matt Q and Rachel, Simon and Agnes, Kenny (found his old friend Xavier from Megeve trip)and Theresa, Rei Chiang and Kunal Khanna (pictured jumping off the cliff with a chute). Lindsey and I will definitely head back to explore even more of the area next year.

Home for a weekend

Lindsey's grandmother passed away in January so we made a surprise visit to see her family. The positive lining was that I wasn't able to see her family over Christmas and got to spend some quality time with them just a month later. It was great to see everyone and the hat that Lindsey got Eve for a present was hit with more than just Eve!

Honeymooning at the Velassaru

We had a fantastic 6 nights in the Maldives. Patrick snorkeled two different days and didn't let Lindsey's fear of fish get to him too much. But her attempting to snorkel with me on the first day and succumbing to her fears and then trying to jump back to shore with flippers on was definitely one of the funnier moments of the trip. She ended up falling right into the tiny fish that she was so terrified of and me standing further out in the water with my own gear on and unable to help her but instead laughing pretty loudly did not help the situation. Thanks for the laugh baby. I promise I will help more next time! Here is the link to the hotel's website because their pictures do it more justice: http://www.velassaru.com/

We also enjoyed the spa twice and attempted to wind surf on three different days but because of high winds we had to settle for jet skiing which was a great way to check out some of the closer islands. Ultimately, we spent a lot of time relaxing near the pool. The food was fantastic and the staff as friendly as I have ever seen. It was a great time and hopefully some day we will have the time to get back to the Maldives. If anyone makes it to this resort and prefers a beach hut over a water bungalo we would recommend room 217! It's a great private location on the island.

Singapore pictures continued.....

Sorry this picture is so dark but it is trying to show the infinity pool on the rooftop of the Sands Casino and how it looks over the city's skyline.

Pictures from Singapore

Uncle John did a great job of hosting Lindsey and me for three days before we took off for our official honeymoon. We got to see monkey, explore the famous Singapore shopping, steak sliders at Morton's (highly recommended plus free!), drinks and dinner on top of the Sands resort, and ate at Little India and China Town. Of course we also visited little America. John also took us to his school where we got to meet many of his coworkers and also got to visit his students while they were in art class and also got to see his very cool classroom.

Overall it was a great time and opened our eyes to what a unique city Singapore really is. We both can't wait to go back to check out more of the attractions.

House update

The house is coming along slowly but surely and now there is no turning back. As you can see there isn't much left inside and hopefully on the way to becoming a beautiful new home.
